Francesco Falcone was born in Chiavari in 1892.
He began his training in his father’s work shop, His father was a craftsman and cabinet-maker. In his home town he studied at the Scuola d’arte applicata all’industria, while in Genoa he attended Giovanni Scanzi’s studio and the Accademia ligustica di Belle Arti. Falcone was the author of portraits, sacred works, and funerary and genre works in wood, bronze, and marble influenced by the Belgian sculptor Meunier. He regularly took part in the Genoese and Ligurian exhibitions from 1920 to 1940. In 1925 he showed in Rome and then in Paris where he presented the wooden piece «Operaio del porto» (Docker). He also showed at the Venice Biennale from 1924 to 1936 and the shows organized by the Promotrice di Belle Arti of Turin from 1927 on. In 1935 he exhibited his bronze «Ragazzo malato» (Sick Boy) at the Rome Quadrennial . The Galleria d’Arte Moderna of Milan houses his wooden group «Scirocco», exhibited in 1925 at the Monza Biennale. His works are present in public collections in Rome, Genoa, and Miama. The artist died in Chiavari in 1978.
